Job Description: Crane Operator (Offshore Oil & Gas LNG Production)

Position Overview

The Crane Operator is responsible for operating offshore cranes to safely lift, move, and position heavy equipment, materials, and supplies in support of oil, gas, and LNG production activities. This role ensures safe cargo handling, compliance with international lifting standards, and efficient support for offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Crane Operations: Operate pedestal and offshore cranes to load/unload supply vessels, transfer equipment, and support maintenance activities.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow HSE standards, lifting procedures, and offshore safety protocols to prevent accidents.
  • Pre-Operation Checks: Inspect cranes, lifting gear, and rigging equipment before use to ensure operational readiness.
  • Cargo Handling: Safely lift and position heavy loads, including pipes, machinery, and containers, in coordination with deck crews.
  • Maintenance Support: Assist in routine maintenance of cranes and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Documentation: Record lifting operations, inspections, and equipment usage in compliance with company procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Support emergency lifting operations during offshore incidents or urgent repairs.
  • Team Coordination: Work closely with riggers, deck crews, and logistics coordinators to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Technical diploma or certification in crane operations or mechanical trades.
  • Experience: 5+ years as a crane operator, with at least 2 years in offshore oil & gas or LNG facilities.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with offshore pedestal cranes, lifting gear, and rigging practices.
  • Certifications: Offshore survival training (BOSIET/T-BOSIET, HUET), H2S awareness, OPITO-approved Crane Operator certification, and rigging/lifting safety training.
  • Skills: Strong situational awareness, communication, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure.
