Position Overview

The Deck Crew / HLO is responsible for safe deck operations, including helicopter landing and take-off coordination, cargo handling, and ensuring compliance with offshore safety standards. This role is critical for maintaining operational efficiency and safety on offshore installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Helicopter Operations
  • Act as Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) during arrivals and departures.
  • Supervise Helideck Assistants (HDAs) and ensure safe passenger movement.
  • Conduct pre-landing checks (firefighting equipment, windsocks, lighting, deck condition).
  • Coordinate with pilots and radio operators for clear communication.
• Deck Operations
  • Assist in cargo loading/unloading, securing, and storage.
  • Operate deck machinery (winches, cranes, mooring equipment).
  • Support supply vessel operations (loading pipes, containers, fuel, and provisions).
• Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain firefighting and rescue readiness on helideck and deck areas.
  • Conduct safety drills and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with international aviation and maritime safety standards (CAP 437, ICAO, IMO).
• General Duties
  • Perform routine deck maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Assist in lifting operations under supervision of Deck Foreman.
  • Support emergency response team as required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Offshore survival training (BOSIET / HUET with CA-EBS).
• Valid HLO certification (recognized by aviation authorities).
• STCW basic safety training (for vessel-based crew).
• Knowledge of CAP 437 helideck standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit and able to work in challenging offshore environments.

Experience

• Minimum 2–3 years offshore deck crew experience.
• Prior HLO or helideck operations exposure preferred.
• Familiarity with offshore logistics and supply chain operations.

Working Conditions

• Rotational offshore schedule 28/28.
• Exposure to harsh weather conditions.
• High safety awareness required at all times.
