- Mandatory offshore experience
- High school diploma for non-senior roles
- Job-specific vocational training for non-senior positions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering for senior and leadership roles
- Ability to work in a high-risk offshore environment
- Strong safety awareness and compliance with operational procedures

- OGUK/OEUK Medical Certificate

- Essential safety training for all offshore personnel.
- Covers firefighting, sea survival, first aid, and emergency response.
- Must include CA-EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System).
- Valid for 4 years.
- FOET (Further Offshore Emergency Training)
- Refresher course for those whose BOSIET is expiring.
- Valid for 4 years.
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
- Mandatory if traveling offshore by helicopter.
- Teaches escape techniques in case of ditching/crash landing.
- Often bundled with BOSIET.

Job Purpose
The Field Safety Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe operational practices across offshore oil, gas, and LNG production facilities. The role focuses on implementing and monitoring Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) programs, preventing process safety incidents, and supporting operational teams in maintaining safe hydrocarbon processing operations.
This role ensures compliance with international safety standards and company safety management systems to protect personnel, assets, and the environment in high-risk offshore operations.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Operations Management
Monitor and enforce company HSSE policies, procedures, and safety standards across offshore production facilities.
Ensure strict compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, and confined space entry requirements.
Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments in operational areas.
Process Safety Management
Support the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems to prevent major accidents.
Participate in Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) studies.
Monitor safety-critical equipment including Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), fire and gas detection systems, and pressure relief systems.
Incident Investigation
Investigate safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to determine root causes.
Develop corrective and preventive actions to improve operational safety performance.
Maintain accurate incident reports and safety documentation.
Emergency Response & Preparedness
Participate in offshore emergency response planning and drills, including fire, gas leaks, blowouts, and evacuation scenarios.
Ensure readiness and maintenance of firefighting equipment and emergency systems.
Support emergency response teams during offshore incidents.
Safety Training & Culture
Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and safety awareness programs for offshore personnel.
Promote a strong safety culture and hazard awareness across operational teams.
Support safety orientation programs for new employees and contractors.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in:
Occupational Health & Safety
Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering
Industrial Safety
Certifications (Preferred)
NEBOSH International General Certificate
IOSH Managing Safely
Offshore Safety Certification (BOSIET / HUET)
Authorized Gas Tester (AGT)
First Aid / Basic Life Support
Experience
Minimum 5–10 years of experience in oil & gas, offshore production, refinery, or LNG processing facilities.
Experience working with hydrocarbon processing systems, gas compression systems, or LNG plants.
Strong knowledge of international safety standards and operational procedures.
