Job Description
Position Title: Head of Offshore Oil, Gas & LNG Production Industry: Offshore Energy (Oil, Gas, LNG) Location: Offshore facilities / Corporate HQ (e.g., Doha, Singapore, Houston) Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) / VP Production
The Head of Offshore Oil, Gas & LNG Production is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable offshore operations. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership to drive production excellence in one of the world’s most complex industries.
Role Purpose
The Head of Offshore Oil, Gas & LNG Production provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for offshore production assets, including platforms, FPSOs, and LNG facilities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and sustainable production while meeting corporate targets for output, cost, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement production strategies aligned with corporate goals.
- Oversee offshore operations across multiple assets (oil fields, gas platforms, LNG trains).
- Drive continuous improvement in production efficiency and reliability.
- Operational Oversight
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of offshore facilities.
- Monitor production KPIs, downtime, and asset integrity.
- Lead emergency response planning and crisis management.
- HSE & Compliance
- Champion Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSE&Q) standards.
- Ensure compliance with international and local regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture across offshore teams.
- People & Performance Management
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, supervisors, and offshore crews.
- Develop talent pipelines and succession planning.
- Foster collaboration between onshore and offshore units.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with regulators, partners, and contractors.
- Provide production updates to executive leadership and shareholders.
- Represent the company in industry forums and technical committees.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep knowledge of offshore oil, gas, and LNG production systems (FPSO, LNG trains, subsea wells).
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills in high-risk environments.
- Expertise in production optimization, asset integrity, and risk management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale budgets and complex projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Energy Management.
- 15+ years of experience in offshore oil & gas production, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
- Certification in HSE management and offshore safety (OPITO standards).
- Track record of leading large offshore teams and delivering production targets.

- Asset uptime and reliability.

General Requirements (All Positions)
- Mandatory offshore experience
- High school diploma for non-senior roles
- Job-specific vocational training for non-senior positions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering for senior and leadership roles
- Ability to work in a high-risk offshore environment
- Strong safety awareness and compliance with operational procedures
Core Offshore Certificates
- OGUK/OEUK Medical Certificate
- Confirms you are medically fit to work offshore.
- Issued by OEUK-approved doctors.
- Typically valid for 2 years.
- BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training)
- Essential safety training for all offshore personnel.
- Covers firefighting, sea survival, first aid, and emergency response.
- Must include CA-EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System).
- Valid for 4 years.
- FOET (Further Offshore Emergency Training)
- Refresher course for those whose BOSIET is expiring.
- Valid for 4 years.
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
- Mandatory if traveling offshore by helicopter.
- Teaches escape techniques in case of ditching/crash landing.
- Often bundled with BOSIET.
