Job Description: Senior Instrument Technician (Offshore Oil & Gas LNG)
Position Overview
The Senior Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems critical to offshore oil, gas, and LNG production facilities. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of process equipment in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Instrumentation Maintenance: Inspect, calibrate, and repair field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, analyzers).
- Control Systems Support: Maintain and troubleshoot DCS, PLC, SCADA, and ESD systems.
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Testing & Calibration: Perform loop checks, functional tests, and calibration of instruments to ensure accuracy.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to HSE standards, offshore safety protocols, and company procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain records of calibration, maintenance activities, and equipment history.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior technicians, coordinate with operations and engineering teams, and support shutdown/startup activities.
- Emergency Response: Assist in troubleshooting and restoring critical systems during plant upsets or emergencies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma or degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Control Engineering.
- Experience: 7+ years in offshore oil & gas or LNG production, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in instrumentation, control systems, and field devices.
- Certifications: Offshore survival training (BOSIET/T-BOSIET), HUET, H2S awareness, and relevant vendor certifications.
- Skills: Analytical troubleshooting, team leadership, communication, and adherence to safety standards.
