Job Description

Position: Senior Mechanical Technician – Offshore Oil & Gas LNG Production Location: Offshore LNG Facility (FPSO / FLNG / Fixed Platform) Reports To: Mechanical Supervisor / Offshore Maintenance Superintendent.

Role Overview

The Senior Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment critical to LNG production on offshore facilities. This role ensures mechanical integrity, reliability, and compliance with safety standards, supporting continuous LNG operations in challenging offshore environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems including compressors, pumps, turbines, cryogenic equipment, and rotating machinery.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee mechanical isolation procedures and support Permit to Work (PTW) compliance.
  • Maintain LNG-specific cryogenic systems, valves, and piping integrity.
  • Supervise junior technicians and contractors during mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Ensure spare parts inventory and maintenance records are updated.
  • Support emergency response readiness by ensuring mechanical systems are operational.
  • Collaborate with operations, instrumentation, and HSE teams to optimize equipment performance.
  • Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, and major overhauls.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ISO, OSHA, NFPA, IMO, and local regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years offshore oil & gas experience, with at least 5 years in LNG production facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of cryogenic systems, rotating equipment, and LNG mechanical processes.
  • Certified in BOSIET, HUET, H2S Awareness, and Advanced Firefighting.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Experience supervising multicultural teams in offshore environments.
