Role Overview
The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication tasks to support offshore oil, gas, and LNG production operations. This role ensures the integrity of pipelines, structures, and equipment through safe and precise welding practices, contributing to plant reliability and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Welding Operations: Perform welding using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and other processes on pipelines, structural steel, and pressure vessels.
- Fabrication Support: Assist in the fabrication, cutting, and assembly of offshore equipment and structures.
- Inspection & Testing: Conduct weld inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Safety Compliance: Follow HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and ensure safe practices in confined spaces and elevated work areas.
- Maintenance Support: Provide welding services during shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency repairs.
- Documentation: Maintain welding records, job cards, and ensure traceability of materials and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest process improvements to enhance welding efficiency and reduce downtime.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or technical certification in Welding or Fabrication.
- 5–7 years of experience in welding operations, preferably in offshore oil, gas, or LNG production.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API).
- Experience with offshore structures, pipelines, and pressure equipment.
- Certifications such as CSWIP, AWS CWI, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in multiple welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance.

- High school diploma for non-senior roles

- Essential safety training for all offshore personnel.
- Covers firefighting, sea survival, first aid, and emergency response.
- Must include CA-EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System).
- Valid for 4 years.
- FOET (Further Offshore Emergency Training)
- Refresher course for those whose BOSIET is expiring.
- Valid for 4 years.
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
- Mandatory if traveling offshore by helicopter.
- Teaches escape techniques in case of ditching/crash landing.
- Often bundled with BOSIET.
