Job Description: Senior Electrical Technician (Offshore Oil & Gas LNG Production)

Position Overview

The Senior Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment that support offshore oil, gas, and LNG production operations. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of electrical infrastructure in compliance with industry standards and offshore safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems including motors, generators, switchgear, transformers, and distribution panels.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults in electrical circuits, control systems, and power distribution networks to minimize downtime.
  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance programs and respond to breakdowns promptly.
  • Testing & Calibration: Perform insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, and functional testing of electrical equipment.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all electrical work adheres to HSE standards, offshore safety protocols, and company procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, repairs, and equipment history.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor junior technicians, coordinate with operations and engineering teams, and support shutdown/startup activities.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in restoring electrical systems during plant upsets or emergencies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years in offshore oil & gas or LNG production, with at least 3 years in a senior technician role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in electrical systems, power generation, distribution, and control systems.
  • Certifications: Offshore survival training (BOSIET/T-BOSIET, HUET), H2S awareness, and vendor-specific electrical certifications preferred.
  • Skills: Analytical troubleshooting, leadership, communication, and adherence to safety standards.
