Role Overview

The Wellhead Maintenance Foreman (Person in Charge / Offshore Emergency Support Supervisor – PIC/OESS) is responsible for supervising and coordinating all wellhead maintenance activities in offshore oil, gas, and LNG production facilities. This role ensures the integrity, safety, and reliability of wellhead systems while acting as the designated PIC/OESS for emergency preparedness and operational safety. The Foreman provides leadership to maintenance crews, manages resources, and ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision: Lead wellhead maintenance teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Maintenance Planning: Coordinate inspection, servicing, and repair of wellhead equipment, valves, actuators, and pressure control systems.
  • Safety & Emergency Role: Act as PIC/OESS, enforcing HSE standards, managing permit-to-work systems, and leading emergency response drills.
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with drilling, production, and engineering teams to align wellhead maintenance with operational schedules.
  • Inspection & Testing: Oversee pressure testing, certification, and integrity checks of wellhead equipment.
  • Resource Management: Manage tools, spare parts, and consumables required for wellhead maintenance.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, compliance reports, and equipment status.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Lead wellhead-related emergency interventions and ensure readiness of crews under OESS responsibilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize wellhead maintenance processes and enhance equipment reliability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or Production Engineering.
  • 7–10 years of experience in offshore oil, gas, or LNG production, with at least 3–5 years in wellhead maintenance supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of wellhead systems, valves, actuators, and pressure control equipment.
  • Familiarity with international standards (API, ISO, OSHA) and offshore safety regulations.
  • Experience in emergency response leadership (OESS role) and managing maintenance crews.
  • Certifications such as OPITO OESS, Authorized Gas Tester, HSE training, or equivalent are highly desirable.

    • Mandatory if traveling offshore by helicopter.
    • Teaches escape techniques in case of ditching/crash landing.
