Job Description
Position: Workshop Superintendent – Offshore Oil, Gas & LNG Production
Location: Offshore Facilities – Middle East Qatar
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview
The Workshop Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all workshop activities related to maintenance, repair, and fabrication in offshore oil, gas, and LNG production facilities. This role ensures that workshop operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. The Superintendent provides leadership to workshop teams, manages resources, and ensures the reliability of critical equipment supporting production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Management: Supervise daily workshop operations, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance and repair.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor workshop technicians, welders, fitters, and other skilled personnel.
- Maintenance Oversight: Ensure timely repair and servicing of offshore equipment to minimize downtime.
- Fabrication & Assembly: Oversee fabrication, machining, and assembly of components required for offshore operations.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce HSE standards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure safe working practices in workshop activities.
- Resource Management: Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and consumables to support maintenance and shutdown activities.
- Coordination: Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to align workshop activities with production needs.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all repairs and fabrications meet technical specifications and quality standards.
- Reporting: Prepare workshop performance reports, maintenance records, and recommend improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 8–10 years of experience in oil, gas, or LNG production, with at least 5 years in workshop supervision.
- Strong knowledge of offshore equipment maintenance, fabrication, and repair processes.
- Familiarity with international safety standards (OSHA, ISO 45001, API).
- Experience in managing workshop teams and coordinating with multidisciplinary departments.
- Certifications in welding, machining, or maintenance management are desirable.

- High school diploma for non-senior roles
- Job-specific vocational training for non-senior positions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering for senior and leadership roles

- BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training)
- Essential safety training for all offshore personnel.
- Covers firefighting, sea survival, first aid, and emergency response.
- Must include CA-EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System).
- Valid for 4 years.
- FOET (Further Offshore Emergency Training)
- Refresher course for those whose BOSIET is expiring.
- Valid for 4 years.
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
- Mandatory if traveling offshore by helicopter.
- Teaches escape techniques in case of ditching/crash landing.
- Often bundled with BOSIET.
