Job Description

Position: Panel Operator (OESS) – Offshore Oil & Gas LNG Production Location: Offshore LNG Facility (FPSO / FLNG / Fixed Platform) Reports To: Control Room Supervisor / Offshore Operations Superintendent

Role Overview

The Panel Operator (OESS) is responsible for monitoring and controlling LNG production processes from the central control room. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operation of offshore LNG facilities by managing process parameters, responding to alarms, and coordinating field operators during normal and emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Distributed Control System (DCS), SCADA, and Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) panels.
  • Monitor LNG production parameters: gas treatment, liquefaction, cryogenic storage, and loading operations.
  • Respond to alarms and initiate corrective actions, including partial or full plant shutdowns.
  • Coordinate with field operators to ensure safe execution of start-up, shutdown, and maintenance activities.
  • Implement Permit to Work (PTW) procedures and isolation protocols.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, production reports, and incident records.
  • Lead communication during emergency response situations, ensuring alignment with HSE protocols.
  • Conduct routine system checks and verify integrity of safety instrumented systems.
  • Support training and mentoring of junior operators in control room operations.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ISO, OSHA, NFPA, IMO, and local regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma/Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
  • Minimum 5–8 years offshore oil & gas experience, with at least 3 years in LNG production control room operations.
  • Strong knowledge of LNG processes and cryogenic safety.
  • Certified in BOSIET, HUET, H2S Awareness, and Advanced Firefighting.
  • Familiarity with SCADA/DCS systems and offshore instrumentation.
  • Experience in emergency shutdown systems (OESS) and safety instrumented systems.
