Job Description: Scaffolding Inspector (Offshore Oil & Gas / LNG Production)

Position Overview

The Scaffolding Inspector is responsible for inspecting, certifying, and ensuring the safety and compliance of scaffolding structures used in offshore oil, gas, and LNG production facilities. This role plays a critical part in maintaining high safety standards, supporting maintenance and construction activities, and ensuring scaffolding integrity in challenging offshore environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection & Certification: Conduct thorough inspections of scaffolding structures to verify compliance with safety standards and issue permits for use.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure scaffolding erection, modification, and dismantling meet HSE regulations, offshore safety protocols, and company procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, and scaffolding activities.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure scaffolds are safe for personnel use.
  • Coordination: Work closely with scaffolding supervisors, construction teams, and offshore operations to support project requirements.
  • Training & Guidance: Provide technical advice and guidance to scaffolders on safe practices and proper erection methods.
  • Emergency Support: Inspect and certify scaffolding structures required for urgent maintenance or shutdown activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Diploma or technical certification in construction, engineering, or scaffolding.
  • Experience: 5+ years in scaffolding, with at least 2 years in inspection roles within offshore oil & gas or LNG operations.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of scaffolding systems (tube & fitting, modular), load calculations, and offshore standards.
  • Certifications: Offshore survival training (BOSIET/T-BOSIET, HUET), H2S awareness, CISRS/SAF Scaffolding Inspector certification preferred.
  • Skills: Attention to detail, safety awareness, communication, problem-solving, and ability to work under pressure.
